The Tasting Room Wine Bar & Café
our comments
If you happen to need help choosing a bottle from the all-American wine list, expect to hear lengthy and loving descriptions that make each bottle seem as precious as a beloved only child. The Tasting Room is, indeed, a family affair, opened by husband-and-wife team Colin and Renee Alevras, and dining at their restaurant can often feel like a dinner party in a private home. All of the dishes are offered as tastes or full portions allowing diners to graze on several items or eat a traditional appetizer and main course. All of the food is delicate and delicious: standouts include beautifully presented roast lobster with an array of seasonal vegetables, a salad of arugula and iceberg lettuce that manages to equal much more than the sum of its parts and heady oxtails. An adventurous cheese plate is a must when you need to finish the last of that bottle of red wine.- April 2005
