Sparks Steak House
our comments
Most famous as the site of a mob hit that left boss Paul Castellano dead on the sidewalk, this stellar steakhouse is a cut above many of the others in ambience. An expansion into the space next door means your wait for a table usually is shorter than it used to be at this mahogany-paneled steak institution. We can’t fault the tender prime sirloin or juicy filet mignon, the lamb chops (three doubles) or the charred veal chop and the gargantuan broiled lobsters. The meats come unadorned, so order a side of buttery spinach or a baked potato. Desserts are just okay, but there’s a good dessert-wine list. Sparks has one of the best overall wine cellars in the city---and some of the fairest wine prices---which is a refreshing change from many steakhouses.- April 2005

My Family of 5 Myself, husband and 3 hungry teenage boys treated ourselves to a meal at Sparks steak house. It was fabulous! The service superb. Steaks large and tender.
Truly excellent.
It wasn't cheap but well worth it!

We tried Sparks on 4/20/06. We had no wait to be seated for our reservation. Everything from service to food was superb. Our waiter(s) were very attentive. Steaks were the best ever had (have eaten in many fine restaurants from Chicago to CT). The tuna was the largest portion and best tasting ever had. Lobster was mouth watering delicious. Appetizers were excellent (oysters and shrimp). Drinks were excellent (from Cosmos to Bookers Bourbon). Even had 1 dessert which was excellent.
We found a new favorite restaurant and will be sure to patronize Sparks whenever we are in New York.

best steaks that I have eaten in NYC ,and the most reasonable wine list ,only negative is the obligatory 40 minute wait even with a reservation, perhaps the maitre d.is waiting for a bung .Anyway I used to go on the company account ,but now I am happy to fork out for myself and family/chums.
