Republic

My husband and I were looking forward to a delicious meal of noodles in broth at Republic - we have been many times before - on a recent Monday night, having just watched "The Devil Wears Prada". We could not have been more disappointed.

We watched guests at the next table, who had arrived 30 minutes after us, being served their food, whilst our order was still nowhere in sight, despite asking our waitress twice to follow up. After getting several ansy replies from our very very rude waitress and busboy (yes, even the busboy was condescending!), we decided to leave as we did not want to waste our time anymore. After all, we were near starving after 45 minutes of waiting. The dining room was also way too noisy.

On our way out, we complained to the manageress, who was also rude. She managed to shout the word "sorry" without meaning it of course - it came out of her mouth so fast we almost missed it!

Both the waitress and manageress did not even attempt to make amends, they just tried to defend the situation - this is so typical of New Yorkers!

So this is it - we shall never return to Republic, shame, as the food is good for the price. Service really SUCKS though. And what is it with these b NY women?
