Grotta Azzurra
our comments
Grotta Azzurra is back, transformed. Nolita and Little Italy's famous Grotta Azzurra Inn, whose namesake is the "Blue Grotto" in the isle of Capri, was first founded by Davino family in 1908 on the corner of Mulberry & Broome Streets. This venerable institution has recently undergone a complete renaissance and reopened under new ownership. Grotta Azzurra's culinary vision is to honor the former Grotta Azzurra Inn by incorporating some of it's classics, like lobster fra diavolo and steak pizziola, into a new seasonal Italian market menu.- April 2005

Excellent and cosy Italian place, with the owners being very welcoming indeed. The food tasted great, fresh and was very generous but not at all over the top in portion size. Great selection of wines aswell and all very well priced for the quality.
