Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

I recently visited Bubba Gump's for the first time time in Nov 2007. It was EXCELLENT. Our experience was great from start to finish. The food was great, the service was even better. Our server, Jon, was the best. The previous night we dined at Carmine's in the theatre district and paid three times as much for our food and had an awful experience. The service was so poor that for the first time ever I did not leave a tip. Thanks Jon for making our experience so positive. I have recommended your restuarant to everyone I know.

This is the third time I have been here, twice a few years ago, the first visit was great fun, good waiter and my kids loved it.

The second time, I went with my kids, we had a miserable waitress that was boring, not smiling and made us feel as welcome as lepers. This was the only time that I have never tipped in NY even though I know how to play the game as we are from the UK but you just don't expect to leave a cent for miserable poor rude service !

The third time I went was for lunch with my partner, we had a great waiter, he did the Forrest Gump quiz with us, made sure we had everything and nothing was too much for him to do. The food was good and all the staff were very friendly even to the point of leaving the establishment.

I bought my father the icon Bubba Gump Shrip red cap which he still wears today but hasn't a clue what it is about! LOL, my kids have a hoot when they see him wear it !

I've got to disagree with a few of the comments made below.

I'm from London, England and was over in New York back in December 2004. Whilst there, my girlfriend and I decided to go to Bubba Gumps for a bit of a laugh. Whilst I am happy to say that the food was of a ood quality, it was not great. Truly great food is not served in a place where the decorations are a giant shrimp trawler and a load of fishing nets!

The staff were all very friendly but you did feel that it was not always sincere. She explained how the service sign on our table worked - put it on "Help Me" and she would come immediately, put it on "Do not disturb" and she would leave us alone until we called her.

We wanted a quiet meal alone together and so promptly flipped the sign onto "Do not disturb" thinking that this was a nice touch. In the next 60 minutes we were disturbed a total of 7 times! I'm all in favour of polite and attentive service but why go to the trouble of making a load of do not disturb signs if you're not going to abide by it?

The food was tasty and the drinks were pretty good too. They do standard cocktails well but there's nothing too creative about them in reality.

The price was ok.

I personally would not go back but I would say that if you want a meal in cheesey surroundings in Time Square then go for it.

This is one superb restaurant with excellent service and even better food.

This is a Forrest Gump themed restaurant where you can get the est shrimp in town and if your not a shrimp fan the steaks, ribs & other seafood is also excellent.

The drinks menu is also extensive and they have wide range of not alcoholic drinks, I recomend the speckled lemonade. The waiting staff never bother you until you tip over your "Stop Forrest Stop" sign on your table and they appear as if from nowhere.

There is a fun relaxed atmosphere to the place and you can participate in the Forrest Gump quizzes they shout out everyone once in a while.

Ideal for couples and families, I have recommended the place to so many people and the all loved it.
